Set on a hill in a coastal town, the design for this holiday home respects nature with a clever solution.
Seeking a coastal sanctuary for rest, remote work, and entertaining, the owners wanted a bold design, but also one that respected its environment. With the property located on a hill amid Moonah trees, it was subject to various council rules, including restrictions on digging.
Milton opted for an intriguing approach to these different needs, designing three ‘boxes’ that appear to wrap ‘up and over’ the hill rather than needing to dig into the hill. Inside, there are spacious bedrooms and guest rooms, and vast windows that open wide in summer and close snugly in winter, creating the perfect hideaway.
