Stanger Street, Yarraville

Vision: The owner of this suburban block wanted to subdivide and build two townhouses, with each as spacious as possible to comfortably accommodate a family.

Approach: We set out to create a pair of two-level, three bedroom plus study homes with ample volume and light. Large windows, lines-of-sight through to the garden, and a skylight over the staircases bring the outside in. An open plan kitchen, living and dining space cater to family gatherings, while an upstairs master suite with a walk-in-robe provides a quiet retreat. We created a modern exterior look, but opted for a peak roof shape to suit the aesthetic of the area.

Outcome: Two stylish townhouses that make the most of the land available, and fit beautifully into the surrounding area.

The townhouses offer inner-city style using timber, concrete render and metal – but the peak roof shape softens the look to complement the more traditional suburban setting.
