We are thrilled to announce that our unique new project, the "Dune House" in Rye on the Mornington Peninsula, has officially gained planning application approval!

This bespoke retreat, designed for a professional couple as a weekend escape and future semi-permanent home, is now ready to move forward.

Project Focus: Design Tailored to Nature

The design of Dune House successfully meets the client's vision for integrated, functional living:

  • Defined Living Spaces: We created an open-plan layout that still offers separation between the lounge, dining, and quieter retreat spaces. It’s open, yet thoughtfully zoned for various activities.
  • Nature Integration: The home is designed to ascend the hillside, ensuring every level is visually connected to nature. On the upper floors, you feel fully enveloped by the surrounding treetops.
  • Maximized Views: The layout is strategically planned to capture beautiful water views from multiple points throughout the home.

The Challenge We Overcame: Embracing the Slope

This site presented a major architectural challenge: an extremely steep slope.

In fact, previous proposals in the area faced difficulty because they required excessive excavation. Our successful strategy was to completely embrace the natural slope. By seamlessly integrating the structure into the existing landscape, we were able to significantly minimize excavation, which was key to meeting planning requirements and gaining this crucial approval.

What's Next? Construction Commences Soon!

With planning approval secured, we are now eagerly moving into the detailed documentation phase and anticipating the start of construction.
